Rebar’s public art practice encompasses permanent sculptural artworks, ephemeral installations and social sculptures that take shape from their participants. A little more street than gallery.
In collaboration with a network of outstanding engineers and fabricators, we create art objects made to thrive in–and invite the viewer to reconsider–the public realm. While public art is usually assumed to be a noun, we’ve found it is just as often a verb.
Part of our art practice includes artist-led community engagement and outreach. Using a variety of tactics to test concepts at full scale, including public events, temporary interventions, and emergent happenings, Rebar’s artist-led outreach programs blur the line between object and observer and provide a rich portrait of neighborhood desires that complements the traditional community outreach process.
Rebar also consults on art plans and strategies for public art programs.
