Pavement to Parks 3.0

All hands on Hooper Street for a design-build studio with California College of the Arts

Rebar led a three-week design build intensive workshop as part of the Upper Division Interdisciplinary┬áStudio program at CCA. Building upon the Pavement to Parks class co-taught by Mona El Khafif and Rebar the previous semester, the three week intensive focused on design and construction of a new sidewalk landscape and an upgrade to the FARM installation on either side of Hooper Street, adjacent to CCA’s San Francisco Campus.

The Hooper Street sidewalk landscape installation was inspired and made possible by the work of Jane Martin of Shift Design Studio, SF who led the creation of the sidewalk landscape permit process and has designed and installed numerous installations in San Francisco.

The FARM upgrade included the creation of three new planter beds built from recycled lumber donated by the great people at Recology and the installation of recycled crushed concrete permeable paving material from Sustainable Crushing.
