Cabinet National Library Redux 2009

The Cabinet National Library: Now 30% More Cabinetier!

On the fifth anniversary of the creation of the Cabinet National Library, Rebar returned to renovate the project and install a new capital improvement – the Library Exhibition Annex. After five years alone in the desert, the Library had fallen into disrepair and had been looted, flooded, inhabited by several phyla of creature and subjected to a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful attempt at a coup d’etat.

Rebar renovated the Library and replenished the collection of back issues of Cabinet, restocked the snack bar, added a swale and several hundred pounds of cement to the structure. The Library stands proudly once again.

We also added the Library Exhibition Annex – a 220 square-inch white wall gallery space that is available as a venue for exhibitions, performances, lectures and other cultural projects. If you are interested creating small events in the middle of a vast and vacant desert, the Exhibition Annex could well be the venue for you. Send us your proposal!

Date: July 2009
Location: Cabinetlandia, New Mexico.
